MyGreenLake.com: Summer Reading Program

From The Seattle Public Library:
The Seattle Public Library’s 2010 Summer Reading Program featuring the theme “Where Does Reading Take You?” kicks off Tuesday, June 1. The annual program, which continues through Sunday, Aug. 29, encourages everyone to read during the summer, especially children.

Sign up in person at any of the 27 Library locations or online at www.spl.org. Children can track books online, or get a reading log from any Library location and collect a sticker for each book read. Teens and adults can also track books online or in-person at their local branch.

Children who participate in the Summer Reading Program will receive a free paperback book and a pass to the Burke Museum after reading 10 books. Children who read 10 books by Monday, July 26 will be entered into a drawing for the city librarian’s popular Breakfast of Champions event held at the Sheraton Hotel in August. One winner from each Library location will be selected.

The 2010 Summer Reading Program is sponsored by The Seattle Public Library Foundation, Verizon Wireless, U.S. Bank, the Friends of The Seattle Public Library, the Safeco Insurance Foundation, the Burke Museum, Parent Map and the Sheraton Seattle Hotel.

  1. Don't forget that pre-readers can participate too! My then 6 week old daughter got a free board book when I read her 10 last summer! Put the certificate in the baby book. Baby's First Summer Reading Program!
