This bill will equip schools to buy and cook healthier food, strengthen nutrition standards (including for school vending machines), and provide new support for local food and school gardens. Since school lunch is a federal program, the only way to make some of these big improvements is via Congress.
A group of Senators are asking their colleagues to join them in urging the leadership to schedule time for the bill. The deadline for Senators to join the effort is today, Wednesday, May 19 - so please write your Senators today."
