(SAT) Opening Day of the Redmond Saturday Market
Stop by to celebrate the 35th year of the Eastside’s oldest Farmers’ Market. Lots of special events are planned including a 9 a.m. performance from the RHS Band, hands-on activities for kids from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. provided by KidsQuest Children’s Museum, a fire truck in the morning, and baby alpacas on display all day. This is in addition to approximately 80 vendors providing fresh food, flowers, crafts, and more. This year the market is adding monthly visits from KidsQuest and a monthly story time from an actor from Second Story Repertory.

(SAT) Opening Day of Boating Season Come by land or by sea (well, actually by lake) to celebrate this Northwest tradition.
Spectators line the Montlake Cut (by the UW) along Lake WA to watch the Windermere Cup crew races (10:20-11:40 a.m.), followed by the Parade of Boats from Noon -2:30 p.m.
If you’re one of the lucky ones watching by boat, be sure to flag down Lake Union Sea Ray’s “A Cup for Kids” yacht which will be serving coffee by boat with proceeds going to Children’s Hospital.
PS: The Montlake Bridge will be closed from approx: 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. that day, so plan accordingly.

The theme of this year's rock and gem show, hosted by the West Seattle Rock Club, is "Gems in Bloom". It will include beautiful displays of rocks, mineral specimens, fossils, geodes, gemstones, crystals and more, created by club members of all ages. There will also be demonstrations of jewelry and lapidary techniques like cabochon, cutting, beading and wire-wrapping. Kids can make their own Gem Tree, the Burke Museum will host a display, and Amazing Earth Theater will show educational videos.. And "Amazing Earth Theater" will show educational videos.

Ongoing (SUN) Free Public Sail @ The Center for Wooden Boats
StreetHop into one of the Center for Wooden Boats' fleet of classic sailboats for a free half-hour sail around Lake Union, or take a ride in the 1906 Steam Launch Puffin. The Cast Off! program allows visitors the chance to sail in boats that are too large or too complex to be a part of the Center's regular livery program. Arrive early to sign up; all seats are given out on a first-come, first-served basis. All sails are weather permitting, so call after 12noon to check if there's a question. Also, Help master Haida carver Saaduuts, artist-in-residence at The Center for Wooden Boats, carve a canoe from a 37-foot log.
