(THURS) Plant a Seed Day for Kids: Join us for a day of gardening and nature with two exceptional performances for children:

When: Thursday, Apr. 1, 2010, 10:30–11am
Where: Central Library
Level, Room: Level 1, Microsoft Auditorium
Summary Kids will learn about the crawly things in the yard with puppets, stories and songs performed by Seattle Tilth Children’s Garden educators. Join Lisa and Jessica, educators from Seattle Tilth’s Children’s Garden in an exploration of common garden creatures. Through stories and songs, learn how spiders, worms and ladybugs grow, help the garden, and fit into the bigger scheme of things. Fun, family edu-tainment! Stay for a short craft activity after the show, and pick up information about exploring kid-friendly gardening activities at home and around Seattle. For ages 3-7.

Summary Come see "Johnny Appleseed: A Tall Tale," a short play for children, presented by Book-it Repertory Theatre and based on the children’s book by Steven Kellogg. "Johnny Appleseed: A Tall Tale" is the story of John Chapman (better known as Johnny Appleseed), an adventurous young man born during the Revolutionary War. Using Steven Kellogg’s words, Book-It brings to life the true story of a hero who brings apples and hope to the early settlers of America, and recounts the exaggerated stories that grow out of his extraordinary experiences. Stay for a short activity after the show, and pick up information about exploring kid-friendly gardening activities at home and around Seattle. For ages 5 and up.
