positive discipline iphone app

From Heligirl: "Positive Discipline in the Palm of Your Hand"

"...The app, designed after the deck of cards you can buy on the Positive Discipline website, gives you 52 parenting tools to help you develop your positive discipline parenting skills. You can use them three different ways: work on one skill a week, choose one at random when an issue arises and use it to help come to a resolution, and, for older kids, invite your child to choose a card as you work together to solve problems.?

sleep baby sleep

Via Mommy and Molly: My friend Jen (ala "Heligirl") was the guest blogger on the subject of "sleep". This is a good read: "Sleep, Baby, Sleep"

"I have to admit, when Alissa asked me to write a guest post on sleep I cringed. It’s hard to find a hotter issue for moms of young ones. But ever the researcher, I set out to share not only what I used to get my two to sleep through the night, but some of the advice from experts I hope will be of some use."

safer cleaning supplies

Via SafeMama: "Cheat Sheet: Safer Cleaning Supplies"

"One of the first things that went in my house when we started to green (during the whole BPA boom of ‘07) was conventional cleaning products. Since then, we’ve tried many green cleaning products. And of course, what do we SafeMama girls do best? That’s right, my friends, cheat sheets. We’d be remiss if we didn’t put together a cheat sheet of safer cleaning products for your home, too."

westside baby plea

I regularly receive comments on this blog from people saying that they can’t believe my kids eat the stuff I make, so I figured it would make a good topic for a post. I decided to throw it into the Raising Responsible Kids series since it’s also a parenting issue."

child nutrition bill

From PlayGreen: "Don't delay the Child Nutrition Bill"

"...A Letter from Slow Food USA:

This bill will equip schools to buy and cook healthier food, strengthen nutrition standards (including for school vending machines), and provide new support for local food and school gardens. Since school lunch is a federal program, the only way to make some of these big improvements is via Congress.

A group of Senators are asking their colleagues to join them in urging the leadership to schedule time for the bill. The deadline for Senators to join the effort is today, Wednesday, May 19 - so please write your Senators today."
